HOW OBSTACLES AFFECT YOUR SIGNAL STRENGTH
When your wireless signal is transmitted through various materials, such as walls and windows, the signal strength is affected. Though the NVR and wireless camera may be very close in proximity, you could still notice high signal interference if the signal passes through certain obstacles.

For instance, if the signal passes through a concrete wall it will be severely weakened. Please reference the chart below to see which obstacles highly affect your signal and which do not.

If your setup requires the signal to be transmitted through an obstacle that severely weakens it, you can use this 9 ft. Wi-Fi Extender Antenna with your camera system. The Wi-Fi Extender Antenna can be used to bypass the obstacle weakening the signal. Simply replace the white Camera Antenna with the Extender Antenna and then mount the Extender Antenna on the opposing side of the obstacle. Alternatively, you can replace the right side NVR Antenna with the Extender Antenna to increase your signal strength. Please see included images for more information.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extender Antenna I share the remaining of this email because it may be of value to others who are considering purchasing Night Owl Security products. I decided on purchasing Night Owl after observing my friends setup down the road. I purchased the WNVRC20 with four cameras. I live on a long and narrow acre of property. My garage (workshop/man cave) sits 135ft from the house. Two cameras are positioned in the house, one outside covering the backyard and entrance to my garage and the final one in my garage 135ft away. I positioned the NVR with double antennas at a window in the house facing the backyard and in direct line with my garage door window. I positioned the original Extender Antenna inside my garage at the garage door window hoping the signal from the NVR was strong enough to reach and give me a picture on my monitor in the house. It works! My back garage faces a road so you can see that I have been concerned about security. I now have Night Owl connections to my monitor, iPhone and computer. I spend six months in Michigan (Night Owl installation) and six months in Arizona. The additional Extender Antenna was connected to my outside camera so that I could position it correctly. The larger white antenna prevented me from getting the position I wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solved weak signals Spoke to tech support about a weak signal I was receiveing from one camera. I was looking at purchasing a higher gain antenna or wired antenna to better locate the camera or NVR antenna. Night Owl already had a solution, a product, and the experience to know it would work. Also, the price was less than options I was considering from Amazon. Thank you!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Addition To My System My cameras are about 75' from the base. My house is stucco. The signal was very weak at best. I first mounted the antenna to the base unit, which did not improve anything. I then hooked it up to a camera and now that camera has an excellent signal strength. If your having signal issues on the camera end this is a must have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extended antenna My wireless camera was mounted in spot were it was being hard to get good contact to the security system but the extender has a longer cable and I'm able to move it to where it needs to be for my camera to get all the bars and not lose signal. Very pleased to have this option

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Did not work for me I did not have luck with this... it may just be the location of my camera. Going to see what my other options are. Support was friendly but did not solve my issue. Also did not come with a magnet so I had to buy one to attach.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Night Owl security systems are great This antenna helped me install a camera in my barn to watch my ATV's and tractor. Night Owl security systems are great in that you can see as good at night as you can during the day from anywhere on your smart phone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Most cameras work. While early morning hours, all cameras work, most hours only 4-5 or the 8 cameras show up. Extended antennas seem to help a little, with my stone house. Great camera resolution.

We just installed the WNVR in the house, and 8 cameras in our cement block barn. Only 2 cameras at the most show on the App. Would these antennas help? Do I need one for each camera? Or just at the furthest point? Would I put one on the WNVR also?

Asked by: mospoel
Good Afternoon. This antenna is designed to help bypass obstacles that obstruct the signal, such as your cement walls on the barn. So yes, it would help and you would need one for each affected camera. Just replace the white antenna on the camera with this antenna and install the antenna on the side of the wall closet to the Wi-Fi NVR. Thank you!

with extender what kind of range can i get 400?

Asked by: T HI
This is not a booster. It is a wired extender antenna to help bypass obstacles between the cameras and the NVR. For instance, if there is a concrete wall between them, you would connect the antenna to the camera and place the antenna on the other side of the wall where the NVR is. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!
