I bought this camera system on thanksgiving weekend. We have had no major issues with the system, but now we have no remote connections. My husband uninstalled the app and tried to reset it, but now it's saying unable to connect to device. Help!

I will be using one camera in a tarp building, it can get to below 20 in winter. Will it damage it, if not will it still work.

This is a 720p DVR, which means the resolution is capped at 720p. The only cameras compatible with this system are the cameras it is sold with. This is why it is sold as a complete system. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

No, this camera is not compatible with that DVR. You have a standard analog DVR and this is an HD camera. These are two different technologies. Your analog cameras will, however, be compatible with many HD DVRs, as most of our newer DVRs are backwards compatible. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

This system does not come with our Dual Sensor Technology, which reduces false alerts by up to 90%. The only option you have is to install your camera elsewhere or lower the sensitivity setting for that particular camera. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

WMBF-445-720 With this model number can you monitor from your phone from anywhere? Or only on the vicinity of where it’s hooked up? And does it have to be on WiFi to see on the phone?

The system only needs to be connected to a modem/router if you wish to view it remotely on a PC/MAC or a smart device. In order to remotely view your system, you must manually connect an Ethernet cable from your modem/router to the DVR. If you do not want remote viewing, you can simply connect the system to a TV or computer monitor to view live video feed and recordings. With the DVR hardwired to a working Internet connection, you will be able to view your system from anywhere in the world. Thanks for choosing Night Owl.

How to test the cameras locally?

Plug them into the provided cables and camera power adapter at the DVR level. In other words, sit them on top of the DVR or next to it and test each camera with the cable to make sure everything is functioning before you install the cameras. Make sure the DVR is connected and powered on. If the camera and cable are working, an image will appear on your TV or Monitor. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

I see that these are recommended for indoor use.  However, I need them for outside the perimeter, where they will be out in the open subjected to various weather conditions. Will that be okay? Also, does this product come with a manufacturer’s warranty?

No, that type of installation is not recommended. The cameras are weather resistant, but not waterproof. Overexposure to water will damage the cameras. Assuming that each camera is on for 12 hours/day, how long would the 500 GB storage be able to store video for? Also, is there a way to download video in case there is video required to send to police?

As a general rule, a 500GB HDD will record up to 6 months, a 1 TB HDD up to 12 months and a 2 TB HDD up to 24 months of footage. The amount of time your HDD lasts is dependent on your record settings. If you have your system set to record 24/7, this will drastically cut down on the length of storage. Night Owl recommends, when possible, setting your DVR to motion record. This will allow your DVR to record when a camera detects motion and increase the amount of time it takes your HDD to become full. Whatever your settings preference, Night Owl recommends setting your DVR to overwrite when the HDD is full. Directions for adjusting the prior mentioned settings can be found in your manual or on our support site. Regarding downloading or sharing a video... yes, you can backup recordings to a USB flash drive and share them or download them to the App on your smart device and share via email or social media. Can you see any lights on at night.....Are the cameras lights outside the 850nm visible light spectrum? Does the DVR support audio input from a microphone?

At night, these cameras will switch to black and white night vision. You will receive up to 100 ft. of night vision. The more ambient light in the area (street lights, house lights, moonlight, etc..) the better your night vision quality will be. The DVR has 4 audio inputs and cold hold up to 4 microphones. Can this be used in a rental apartment without drilling/making holes in walls.

Yes and No. The cameras are intended to be mounted to your wall, which would require drilling. Also, the cabling is meant to be installed through your walls, etc... However, this is not required as you can find other means to conceal the cabling and position the camera. A rental apartment is not ideal for this system, but could be made to work.
