Rated 5 out of 5 by Hank1973 from Easy Peace of Mind Received this video surveillance system expecting a complicated setup but that's not the case. Installation instructions were simple and clear. It is pretty much plug and play. Download the app and set it up and you are good to go. The 1TB hard drive will store plenty of footage. There are 4 additional ports to expand to 8 cameras if you need. The 60 ft camera cables allowed us to place them exactly where we needed them with some to spare. For this price I can't find any reason to not get the system. Totally worth every penny.

The process of using a mouse to sign into my new account was impossible. after creating my new account I kept getting an error saying incorrect login info. I called, tech said the problem was my password contained special characters, advised to create a new password with no spec characters. I tried changing my password and got an error basically saying special characters were required. It took an hour of waiting on hold and talking to a tech that barely spoke english to get it working.

The Night Owl app is very responsive. It is easy to adjust settings to control notifications from your phone. It includes the necessary cables and hardware to install the cameras.

Motion detection needs a little improvement, hence not 5 stars in my review. Otherwise Bought this system for most bang for the buck and have not been disappointed. Facial capture does a great job, at a glance you can see who has triggered one of the cameras. Very satisfied. Saw the system for sale at a major retailer for more. Ordered directly from site, saved money for the same system. Will defiantly purchase more cameras to add onto the system. Thank you Night Owl.

This last purchase was my second order of two more each time. Our NightOwl system of eight and the DVR work day and night to allow us peace of mind. My wife can step to the monitor and see those things that go boom in the night. We both appreciate the quality and features (and the value for our money!

Rated 1 out of 5 by RDAWG from Bad Business Habits I didnt buy a refurbished system, I bought a brand new system. I had trouble with the cameras from the start. I had the system just after 18 months and 3 of the 8 cameras went out all at once. I called night owl and informed them an they sent me to the warranty department. The warranty department stated since it was over a year old they would not cover the cameras. i tried to explain that the cameras didnt go out one by one, but all at once so there truly is a problem with the lot that i purchased. they said there is nothing hey can do. Its a shame that they advertise that they have top of the line equipment but are actually selling us crap and will not stand by they're product. i say buy from some other company. If i could rate it less than 1 star i would.

I connected them to one of our smaller TVs so I can conveniently monitor the cameras while I am home. The images are very clear with great color. The human detection feature with facial capture is my favorite. I don't have to zoom in to see a face, the camera automatically takes a picture. Even the night images are clear and with color. The spotlight is another great security feature. I will definitely be adding on to this system and recommending it to friends and family.

This is a pretty good system, The video quality is not 4k but it's certainly good enough for what its intended use is, plus allow for longer recording time. The night vision works well and can see out to about 60 feet or so. The wiring type was not my preferred, it uses the outdated small coax cables with the screw-on connectors on it, I think they call them BNC connectors. I would have greatly preferred for it to be regular CAT5e wire that my house is already prewired for, it would have been super convenient to just use what was already there rather than climbing throughout the attic running new wires. The recorder box is super easy to set up and use, I was impressed. There are all kinds of settings and adjustments you can do in the software, and it is not required to be connected to the internet unless you want to use the app while away from home. It really is as simple as hook up all the wires and turn it on.
