However, they mean nothing if the app itself doesn’t work properly or even at all sometimes. There are many downsides at the moment. From failing to connect to your cameras and viewing through them on the app to constant loading without end throughout the app such as finding your system or cameras and viewing recorded history. On the cameras, while they have great features, they don’t always work. Notice sometimes they don’t record anything even though did previously. Got them mainly for the subscription free part and app viewing while away with the nice features, but right now only the subscription free is all I’m getting out of it.

This was a little complicated to set up but I followed the directions and watched a few videos and figured it out. But very worth it!! I love the sensor light that it has on the camera! I love how they are water proof because we get alot of snow and rain here. It works great at night to very clear videos! Definitely worth every penny! On top of that you don't have to pay for a subscription every month! The cameras are very good quality and durable. It comes with batteries that are rechargeable to! I also got some stickers to put up letting people know I have a security system now! Overall AWESOME security camera!!!

I found this system very easy to hook up and get going without any issues. The system comes with everything needed except a monitor and router. I hooked it up to our living room television and had it up and running in no time at all. All the cameras use batteries, which are included and are rechargeable. The cameras are triggered when anything passes in its view. The spotlight comes on and it begins recording video. I love this system does not have a monthly subscription so that is definitely awesome. It says it is compatible with camera doorbells and can have more cameras added. This is a perfect security system for anyone just getting their first one or those that are looking for a new one with high quality at a great value. I would definitely recommend this Night Owl product to anyone.

I was avoiding security systems because I didn't want to deal with cumbersome materials and then extra expense on a contract. This eliminates both of those. Set up is fast and easy. They offer what seems like great customer service, but didn't need it. The instructions are intuitive and it was pretty quick. The picture quality is excellent. I am using this as a surround view for the home as I have a video doorbell already. Features are easy to tune and I am thrilled it all lives on the mega hard drive. It's easily worth the price and I am not sure I have seen any near as good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 5un5hine from A lot of Great Features The Night Owl 1080p Wi-Fi smart security system arrived with easy to follow hookup and installation instructions and with all parts accounted for. We mounted 2 of the cameras on the outside of the house and 2 on a large shed outside. The cameras video is very clear and the spotlights work nicely. We already have captured a video of several deer in the backyard and a bear drinking out of our hummingbird feeder. I really like the two way audio feature especially for the camera by the front door. It’s also nice to know if I want to expand I have an additional 6 channels I can use with a 1TB hard drive. I’m so happy with this system and the security it has brought my family!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Brenda66 from Easy install We set this security system up inside our shop as we needed indoor security. The setup up was easy , mounting the four cameras took less than an hour. It was easy to connect the cameras to the to the hard drive and app. The pictures are clear and the spotlight is bright when motion is detected. The included power cords are 9ft long so you do need to install close to an electrical outlet. Overall a great security system to keep an eye on your property.

I have been wanting a system that was with in a specific price range and never really looked at Walmart untill Saturday. I seen these and bought them. I love how now I can view from my phone or off my TV in my bed room. Live 24/7 feed no matter where I am. Along with now I can catch who ever stole my stuff. Wish I would have found these before my rim and tire was stolen. Will be buying 5 more to finish up the 8 channel. They have a customer for life now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Leshia from Amazing cameras. Great high quality cameras. Battery life is great. I have 2 batteries in each camera and battery life is at 80%. I love that it has the receiver you can hook up to your tv or a computer monitor. Very clear. I really like that the cameras are wireless. So you don't have to worry about tons of wires. It takes a few hours to fully charge.

Does the NVR require an RJ-45 connection to the local LAN at all times, or is the RJ-45 ethernet connection just needed to connect to a PC and set up the system?

You do not need to connect to the Internet to view the cameras. Connecting to the Internet allows you to use the remote viewing App and receive automatic updates. If you do not connect to the Internet, you will have to go to your device's support page to check for the latest updates.
