Video Recorder Systems

Not all Security Video Recorder Systems are created equally. Night Owl offers two types of wired Video Recorder Systems, and although they may have similar features, they are very different technologies. Ultimately, the system that is right for you is determined by your specific needs. Let’s take a closer look at both types of Video Recorder Systems.

Night Owl DVR’s (Digital Video Recorder) are compatible with cameras that use BNC cabling. BNC Cables are a type of coaxial cable that uses the BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) connector which is a common type of connector. The DVR is the brains of a Video Recorder Systems operation. The cameras send data to the DVR for interpretation and to potentially start a recording or send an alert to a Smart Device running a Night Owl free remote viewing App. Unlike DVR based Video Recorder Systems, NVR based Video Recorder Systems use Ethernet cables to transfer data from the cameras to the recorder for the storage of recordings and to send alerts. NVR Video Recorder Systems use cameras as the brains of the operation and they process data and initiate recordings and alerts. Whether you decide on a DVR or NVR based Video Recorder Systems, Night Owl has a system to help Secure, Connect, and Protect your world.
