How do I upgrade the firmware on this model?
Good Afternoon, in order to check for an available firmware update you will require to have an internet connection. Once you have an internet connection for the DVR, please log in to your DVR by right-clicking on the screen, followed by selecting Main Menu, select Advanced, select Auto-Update on the left side of the menu and select the "Check" button so the system may check for an available firmware upgrade. Is this system compatible with other Night Owl 1080P cameras?
Good Afternoon,
This system is not compatible with our 1080p cameras. We will soon have two new 8MP cameras that will fully function with the NVR. Please view the following links to learn more. These should be in stock within the next 30 days.

How does the power from the separate power hook up to the cameras? Do I need to disconnect the power wire in the coax?
Good Afternoon,
If you have pushed a camera further than 60 ft. from your NVR, we recommend using the power pigtail coming from the camera to power that camera locally. Simply connect a camera power adapter to it and a nearby outlet. Leave the Ethernet cable connected as it will still transport your video signal to the NVR. Attached below is a link to camera power adapters on our webstore.

What do I need to do to get this to work out to 300 feet. Can I purchase the ethernet cable in bulk?
We do not sell rolls of Ethernet cabling, but it can be purchased elsewhere. Please note that you may need to buy an additional camera power adapter for any camera you extend further than 100 ft. from the NVR. Please view the link below for spare camera power adapters.

I would like to install a camera on a pole. Is there a protective device available for the camera?
We do not sell any camera shielding, though we definitely recommend your camera be sheltered when installed outside to avoid overexposure to the elements. Many of our customers choose to purchase plastic piping or material from Lowes/Home Depot as cover.
