Rated 5 out of 5 by from This DVR are compatible with AHD Cameras ? I recently bought your DVR but I want to know if this device is compatible with AHD cameras and if I need to use any HD Video Balun because the supplied wire is not enought or can I use a traditional Video Baluns?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from i like the unit,, but... ordered the unit, and got a hard drive to install,, then - surprise - the unit doesn't come with a hard drive mounting bracket, nor does anyone sell one that will fit a 3.5" drive and fit the case,, so I had to get a drive bay bracket and modify it to work. specs say either 2.5 or 3.d drive will work,, would have been nice to know in advance that a 3.5" drive would require some extra creativity to install- is there a reason nightowl doesn't either supply a bracket or at least have one available for order?

Are the 650tvl 720p cameras compatible with this DVR?

HDA is not standard so what are your analog HD products: HD-SDI, AHD, HD-CVI and/or HD-TVI?

HDA is the same thing as AHD. It stands for High Definition Analog and AHD stands for Analog High Definition. The letters were just swamped around for the newer models that have a slightly different design. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

Yes, this is an 1080L HD DVR. 1080L is a hybrid resolution, somewhere between 720p and 1080p. It will be compatible with both sets of cameras, as well as all of our standard analog cameras. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

We have DVR model: DVR-AHD108-81RS. Our monitor says no signal. I take it that the unit went out. Will this new unit work?

Please contact our technical support team at 1-866-390-1303. There are many reasons why your TV monitor could be saying that, not all of which require a new unit. Perhaps a power adapter has failed or there is a bad cable connection? If it does turn out to be the base unit (DVR) and it needs to be replaced, yes, this HDA DVR will be fully compatible with your cameras. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

i just bought two of these DVR's for my laundromats, but i can not get them to record continuously. how do I get this device to record continuously?

Does this system support 8 cameras? Can it be linked or connected to an external hard drive?

Hello, you are correct, this system supports up to 8 cameras. and this will need to have an internal DVR to record locally. the only option this DVR has to use an external Hard Drive is to back up all recordings to it. Best Regards.

Please view the link below for a copy of your manual. Changing your record settings is discussed on page 56. On motion, your DVR will only record when motion is detected by the cameras.
