Rated 1 out of 5 by from Night Owl Nightmare We bought a 4-channel system in 2013 to monitor my aging father's apartment while he was alone and in case he was unable to call us. The DVR failed in February of 2016 and the Night Owl Technical support recommended a new DVR. When we received the new DVR, the installer indicated that it is not compatible with the old analog cameras. The Night Owl Technical support also verified. Regardless of how many times we called and wrote to Night Owl, we did not get any replies. They are either too busy to call you and put you on hold forever or their promise to follow up turns out to be a lie. I would not recommend their product or service to anyone.

Am I able to connect this DVR box to wireless internet?

No. In order to remotely view this system, you will need to have the DVR hardwired to a working router or modem via the included Ethernet cable. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

Why I can't get connect on my IPhone before was working fine ,

Good Afternoon, If you are having trouble connecting using a mobile device: A) your network setup may not be completed, B) the system’s local IP address may be being used from outside internal network or C) your router may be blocking DDNS connection from the internal network. Please follow these recommended troubleshooting tips: A) Network setup may not be completed - See the steps listed in "Why Can't I Connect Over The Internet" to troubleshoot internet setup. B) The local IP address is being used from outside internal network- A system's local IP address can only be used to access devices on the same network. Use the DDNS address or External IP address to connect to the system over the internet using a mobile application. (If you wish to configure the port forwarding yourself, you can find information on how to do this at http://portforward.com. You can test your port forward configuration (make sure your ports are open) using a third-party port forward tester @ http://www.yougetsignal.com). C) Router blocking DDNS connection from internal network- Some routers will block this type of connection. Turn off your WiFi connection and attempt to connect to the system's DDNS address using your 3G or mobile network. If you need to use WiFi, use the system's local IP address to connect from inside the same local network as the system. My system has been working great but as of this morning my device isn't "connecting". All the wires are connected and I have tried on several different technologies to get the device to connect but it won't. Please help!

How many consecutive days does system record for playback

Good Afternoon, Dear customer, The storage capacity depends on how much traffic the cameras are registering for motion recordings, as well as the resolution of the cameras, since you have 4 cameras at 720p HD and a 1 TB of disk storage, you will be able to record and estimated time of 4 months in a home use environment. However, if this is a gas station where there is a lot of movement this DVR will last up to a month and after it will start recording over the very first video recorded. in other words, it will re-write video on top of the oldest video files. can someone jam my dvr and prevent me from viewing or recording

Good afternoon, Dear customer, While these cameras can be physically burglarized, to jam a security camera will take more of a technical and advanced equipment that many would not be able to purchase due to its complex understanding to be able to use. Best regards.

Bought system. Installed. Caught 2 thugs already. In bright sunlight I get a whiteout effect. Need to resolve. Otherwise works great.

Good afternoon. If your camera is pointed towards any direct beams of light, it will cause the whiteout effect you're currently experiencing. You will need to relocate your camera to a more shaded area to alleviate the issue. You will also extend the life of your camera as strong direct light can damage the lens.
