Product Reviews & Questions and Answers

It would be nice to have the ability to purchase replacement IP Cameras, just incase some give out. I know you all do not sell any IP Cameras, only Analog ones. Is there a list of recommended IP cameras to use for your systems?

Asked by: owluser
Hello Owl User, I have 2 of these NVRs, I have the same problem finding cameras with 4MP. I bought GW Brand Model GW4555IP which is a 4MP camera with manual zoom. Connected it easily and works great! You can find on Ebay for about $110. I just bought HikVision Model DS-2D2185FWD-I which is a dome 8 MP camera also with ONVIF, H265 and poe and cannot connect whatsoever. That is all I found so far. Good luck. Let me know if you find others that work.

Are there any bridging options available for this system?

Asked by: Mike M
Unfortunately, if you have a 32 Channel NVR this will be able to expand cameras only through a POE Switch. but your system is an eight channel NVR Unit. note that bridging an NVR will not allow you to add more cameras. because these systems are IP Capped at certain amounts to register the advertised amount of cameras. Best Regards

I have two buildings 250 feet apart. We are going to connect buildings with internet. We want cameras in both building. Is our only option to install to DVR/NVRs or is there a better option?

Asked by: Rustyspurr
Good Afternoon. With our DVRs and NVRs, each camera must be hardwired to the system. For your setup, it would likely be best to have a DVR or NVR in each building. You could then view cameras from both on the same screen via our remote viewing application or PC/Mac CMS software. Thanks for choosing Night Owl!

If we decide to purchase this system, we will need to upgrade our router, what router specifications does Night Owl recommend for the NVR system?

Asked by: Mely
We do not recommend any particular modem or router. All we recommend is a minimum 3 Mbps upload and download speed. Thanks!
