Rated 1 out of 5 by Gregsavidge from Poor customer service and no product support I bought this NVR system June 2015. I had one camera with a defective mount out of the box which they replaced and another camera the night vision stop working after 3 months. Then in July 2016 I had another camera just stop working. Customer service told it was bad and they wouldn't replace it because it was out of the 1 year warranty. I then try to buy a replacment and was told we don't sell them separately. So what do I do now? He said you can buy a 3rd party camera that's ONVIF compatible. Bought a new ONVIF POE camera plug it in and nothing. Customer service told me sorry we don't support third party cameras. My Recommendation is don't buy any of Night owl NVR systems cause after a year you have to buy a new system, $999 down the drain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by That is my nickname from So far so good. This is part of a much larger home automation/surveillance project so I've only set up a couple temp cameras. It's been very good so far. A couple points: I hope there is the option of a networked PTZ camera for this NVR, and I wish there was an option to NOT have to enter a password. Having to use a mouse to key in a password is cumbersome and not needed in my case. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to making use of the more advanced features such as the alarm inputs. One quirk on the ordering I was waiting for an Email conformation. Finally, it arrived three days after the order. When I opened it, it said my order had been delivered. Say what?!? I checked out front my door and the package was there. The Snail mail beat the Email. So a shipment from Florida coast to coast is faster than Email. Snicker.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Dmitri from Waste of money Bought this system just over a year ago, and three cameras out of eight have already gone bad. Nightowl does not sell replacement cameras for this product, and other cameras don't seem to be compatible. Total waste for more than $1000 for this junk.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MyNickName from Nice little setup Ok, so this system is incredibly easy to setup, however, there are some "flaws" if you will... (My personal story is at the bottom) 1) The cameras cannot be purchased seperately, poor business plan (for retaining customers) on Night Owl's part because they only offer a 1 year warranty but no replacements. If the cameras ever start to become defective (or ineffective) I will simply move to a different system instead of buying an entirely new system to only use the cameras. I would love to have 1 - 2 spares. 2) No Keyboard support: You have to use a mouse for EVERYTHING you do with this system. I attempted to attach a keyboard, but the system would not see the keyboard. 3) The "Owl Scan" system is extremely slow, I canned the owl scan and entered my home IP address and port forwarded to my systems (each has a different port, one using 9000 and the other using 9010) and it is MUCH faster than going through their direct link. 4) No option, without voiding warranty, to upgrade the HDD to a larger size. The current system, with all cameras recording, will only record for 6-7 days at max resolution. I would love to have an option of having a 6TB HDD on this system I've own this system (2 actually, NVR10-441 and NVR10-882) for the front and back of my house. I have captured so many illegal activities with this system I am really surprised. Everything from people breaking into vehicles on the street to kids out at night (1am) without their parents knowledge. The video footage has assisted with insurance claims and police investigations (to name a few). The video quality is extremely clear and I can monitor it from anywhere with my phone. I have recommended these (NVR10) systems to others but because of cost, they've gone with different systems. I would recommend these camera systems to other people if they ask what I use and have a larger budget. Bottom line is the cameras seem to be very well put together. They are all outside and all perform very well in weather (rain, snow, etc...). Hopefully they last me a while.
