Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can't say enough great things about it! I purchased this system from Fry's instead because they match Amazon prices. I can't say enough great things about it. It does take some setting up, but the system is very complex so you should expect that it takes a little while to get everything going. I am a tech guy, so it did take me fooling with it in my house for about a week until I understood how it works. Remember that there are many different interfaces like the web admin module, the actual screen on the system, and then the Google and Apple apps as well. I would say the web admin way of configuring it is easier and exposes a few features that the other interfaces do not. The system overall is well worth the price, and works really really well. Don't believe the other people that say otherwise, because they probably just don't understand how to set it up. Ask someone who is good with tech to help you get everything working, and you will be glad that you choose this system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great System! I bought this system from Best Buy in September. I have since had to rely on the footage for attempted break-ins/thefts. I have recommended this system to many people. The quality of the video and still images is the best I have seen. Even the night photos are extremely clear.

My system goes into system setup every 4 or 5 days all by itself. How can I stop this. And why is it doing it?

My cameras are not recording. When I try to playback the recording it tells me, there is no playback, and a media could not be detected. What do I do?

Does this system have internal battery backup?

No, this DVR does not contain our Integrated Battery Backup. You can, however, connect it to a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), should you choose to. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

How does the system alert you? What is the "push notification"? Can you connect to a laptop with a wireless router? How much more are audio capable cameras?

With push notifications enabled, you will receive an alert on your smart device via the free remote viewing application anytime your system detects motion. To view on a laptop you will need to download and configure the Night Owl X CMS software. We do not currently offer audio enabled cameras for this system. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

I bought Night Owl 8-Channel 3MP Extreme HD DVR 1TB, 4 3MP Wired Infrared Camera Security System. After installation I realize there is too much trouble to connect to internet with ethernet cable. Is there a way to use USB WIFI adapter to connect to wifi?

I had some difficulty when I first installed mine also, this was 5 years ago. The system worked great, just had problems with the router and port forwarding. You also need to make sure that you ISP did not block some of the video ports that you can choose. I currently use port 9000 media port to get into mine. You also need to know that your ISP probably will only issue you a dynamic IP address. If you IP address you enter ever changes, you will need to access your router again to find the new IP address. I hope this helped.
