Can I get this same model with the black cameras?

I understand that the HDA10P-841-BBPIR system only records when sensing motion and heat...does it allow continuous real time viewing of monitor even when not recording?

Yes, you can view your live footage 24/7 on a TV or monitor, smart device, PC or Mac. Additionally, if desired, you can switch from motion detection to 24/7 Continuous record or Scheduled record. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

Does the battery backup only use battery power when the motion sensor is activated or does the system use up all the power at once two hours after the power is cut? Can the life of the battery back up power be extended by using the motion sensor option?

Yes, the record settings (motion / 24/7 or scheduled record) will affect the duration of the battery backup. Additionally, the more cameras you have connected the quicker you will eat through the battery life. To receive the the full 2 hours, minimal camera setup and motion detection is preferred. What if someone steals the DVR? Can the images be recorded to the internet?

We do not currently have cloud compatibility. If the DVR is stolen, all recordings not already backed up or saved elsewhere will be lost. We strongly recommend placing the DVR in a secure location. Thanks for choosing Night Owl!

I know the cameras record 24 hours a day and display motion when triggered.. but can I watch events that happened in the day that didn't trigger motion? Does that make sense? I would like to watch past events that no motion was detected on

That is a fantastic question. It depends on your record settings. By default, our systems are set to record only when motion (or motion + heat if you have one of our PIR cameras) is detected. In this scenario, no, you will not be able to view anything outside of these recordings because they do not exist. Nothing was ever recorded. If you desire, you can set your record setting to continuous record or scheduled record, but this will eat through your hard drive space at a much quicker rate. Thanks for choosing Night Owl!

I have your system HDA10P-841-BBPIR Can I use other brands of PTZ camera with this DVR? I see that you guys do not offer a PTZ camera yet.

We are not able to guarantee third party compatibility. Generally, if the cameras are ONVIF compliant and similar technology, they will function with our systems. But this is not guaranteed. Thanks for choosing Night Owl!

My dual detector PIR wired cameras detect motion when trees are moving with no humans or animal around, granted it is very windy out today but is this normal? I can adjust the sensitivity and mask certain areas, but is this normal?

By default, the system is set only to record when both heat + motion are detected simultaneously. This dual sensor technology works to reduce false alarms by up to 90%. On occasion you may experience an issue where the PIR sensor is detecting a heat signature from a source while also detecting an unrelated pixel change within the camera's field of view.
