Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good System Reduces False Notifications Good system for the Price would be 5 star worthy if the iOS app worked better. Once you set your notification Zones up properly it greatly reduces the false notifications. The iOS App works ok but can stand to be improved when viewing playback it seems that its takes an hour for the video to show up in the iOS app. The Windows based app has the video almost almost immediately

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressive Features I installed this night owl with 8 HD cameras with motion detector last 2 weeks ago and I am so amazed on the features. and it is user friendly. Super clear resolution. I hope it will be last for many years.

Do your systems have audio?

The cameras included with this system are not audio-enabled. The DVR is capable of having audio enabled cameras or a microphone attached though. Please view the below two links for options. Does the DVR have wireless capability to connect to the router or do you have to run a cable from the DVR to the router? Do the 4 camera systems have additional camera ports in the event I want to add additional cameras at a later date?

In order to remotely view this system, you will need to hardwire the DVR to your router or modem via Ethernet cable. Unfortunately, this is not an expandable system. The DVR has 4 Channels meaning you can connect up to 4 cameras to it. We do sell and 8 Channel 8 Camera kit as well. Can I transfer video from the DVR to my computer in small sections? If so, is a special software required?

You have two options for this - 1) you can backup recordings to a USB flash drive and transfer them over to your computer or 2) you can download and configure the Night Owl X CMS software from our support site. How are the individual cameras powered, especially if mounted outdoors in yard, up in tree? How do individual cameras get video signal to the dvd / home base unit, or my phone/ipad/computer?

Each camera has to be connected to a camera power supply. We also provide 1 x 4 way camera power splitter per every 4 cameras so that you can connect 4 cameras to the same power adapter. If installing a camera outside, we do not recommend installing it out in the open. You risk overexposing the camera to the elements that way. We would recommend installing the camera under shelter of some kind, such as an eave or awning. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!

can the data go to a cloud of some type as a back up ?that way if the dvr is damaged in the breakin you will have a remote backup...

We get temperatures below -4 degrees in the winter. How does this affect the camera and the recording. Do you have cameras that go below -4 degrees.

No, we do not currently have any cameras with that low of an operating temperature range. We don't recommend using the cameras in temperatures that exceed the operating range, as this will likely cause damage to the camera. Thank you for choosing Night Owl!
