Do I have to use the ddns service to view my cameras from another location? The location that my cameras are operating has a static ip from my internet service provider and I have set up the router for port forwarding but I am not able to connect

Good afternoon, Great question!. Most of our Legacy devices and analog DVR Units will ned to use a DDNS account for authentication purposes only. Once you have configured these settings on your DVR you will be able to connect remotely. Thank You For Choosing Night Owl.

I purchased a model TL-168 system from home depot . I do not see any warranty information with this package , and I purchased for future use for a home we are planing to build. This system will not be installed for perhaps a year or more.

Good afternoon, Dear customer, I would suggest testing the DVR locally without installing the actual unit physically onto the outside, this will give you better feedback about your DVR and perhaps if there is an issue with your DVR then it gives you a chance to replace it within the manufacturer's warranty, in this case, Night Owl. The hard drive in my TL-168 has failed. What type of hard drive (specifications) do I need to replace it? Thank You.

Good morning. Night Owl's DVRs/NVRs can accommodate up to a 4TB hard drive. Most of our systems come with a 3.5 inch HDD, but it can be replaced with a 3.5 or 2.5 inch HDD. The HDD should have a minimum of 7200 RPM. Thanks for choosing Night Owl.

What is latch time?? and what's it mean. What is Live "Position" = "Close, U-L ... etc"?? and why? For Motion, Is a higher Sensitivity number more or less sensitive?? What is Motion Full Screen yes/no and why is it used??

Good afternoon. Latch Time is the length of time the DVR will continue taking video after the motion-detected recording turns off after being activated. The Position setting is to select where you want to view that channel on your screen. U-L is Up Left, U-R is Up Right, D-L is Down Left, D-R is Down Right, and Close is to remove the channel from viewing. A higher Sensitivity setting equals a greater sensitivity to motion, which means that channel will be more sensitive to motion. You can set a boundary for motion detection, and the Full Screen setting selects the camera’s entire field of view as the detection area. Thanks for choosing Night Owl.
