Does this need a mouse to work? And my screen shows night owl. Then it vanishes and doesn't come back on unless I unplug. Can this have something to do with forgetting my password and the setup?

Do you have to use the internet to operate the night owl system?

Good morning. The system only needs to be connected to a modem/router if you wish to view it remotely on a PC/MAC or a smart device. In order to remotely view your system, you must manually connect an Ethernet cable from your modem/router to the DVR. If you do not want remote viewing, you can simply connect the system to a TV or computer monitor to view live video feed and recordings. Thanks for choosing Night Owl.

All Night Owl analog cameras are compatible with all Night Owl analog DVRs and AHD DVRs. Night Owl's HD cameras are not compatible with Night Owl's analog DVRs. I'm using this system at work strictly for monitoring purposes. I'm only using 2 cameras. I can look at each full screen or split the screen four ways. Is there a way to split the screen 1/2 and 1/2 so I can see both at 1/2 screen @ the same time?

No, the L model will only work with the Night Owl LITE up. Apps are not up gradable.
